Meet Linda Baker – our new Health and Safety Officer

We are delighted to welcome Linda Baker to the Taxi Charity committee as our new Health and Safety Officer.

Linda spent her entire working life with the same City of London law firm, joining as an 18-year-old Personal Assistant and building a long and successful career before retiring. Looking back, she is proud of the commitment and dedication she gave to the firm over so many years.

Outside of work, Linda has always enjoyed leading an active lifestyle. From cross-country running to regular gym sessions, keeping fit has been an important part of her life. She also has a passion for travel and has been fortunate to visit some incredible destinations, including New Zealand and the beautiful Greek island of Skiathos.

Many members of the Taxi Charity will already know Linda as the daughter of WWII veteran Don Turrell who has been travelling with the charity for over 15 years. Through her father, Linda heard countless stories about the friendships, camaraderie and unforgettable experiences the Charity provides.

In May 2025, Linda joined the Dutch Liberation commemorations for her first overseas trip with the Taxi Charity. She describes it as "an experience I'll never forget". Since then, she has become a familiar face at many of the charity's events.

"It didn't take long for me to understand why Dad always looked forward to being with the Taxi Charity," says Linda. "The drivers and volunteers are an extraordinary group of people whose kindness, generosity and dedication make every event truly special. Being part of the Taxi Charity is a privilege and I've made memories that I will always treasure."

We are delighted that Linda has now taken on the role of Health and Safety Officer and look forward to benefiting from her enthusiasm, commitment and support as she helps ensure our events and trips continue to be safe and enjoyable for everyone involved.
