Meet Hero Geoff – bringing a veteran’s story to a new generation

Following the success of Hero Harry, there will be a new Taxi Charity children’s book bringing the experiences of our veterans to life for a younger generation.

Hero Geoff began as an idea from dedicated young fundraiser and Taxi Charity ambassador, Alfred Mawson. Written by his mum, Grace, and beautifully illustrated by his sister, Lilly, the book is inspired by the true World War II experiences of Taxi Charity veteran, Geoff Roberts MBE, during Operation Market Garden.

The story follows Geoff as the Taxi Charity takes him back to Arnhem, a place filled with memories from his wartime service. This time, Geoff is accompanied by young Alfred, who has the opportunity to hear first-hand about the places where Geoff fought, survived and made memories more than 80 years ago.

As Geoff shares his remarkable story with Alfred, the past is brought vividly to life through the eyes of a young boy listening to a veteran who was actually there.

It is a lovely way of helping children discover more about the experiences of the wartime generation – while ensuring that Geoff’s story and those of his fellow veterans continue to be remembered.

And buying a copy does more than provide a wonderful story to share. Every purchase helps the Taxi Charity continue its work supporting veterans, contributing towards the costs of taking veterans to Normandy for the D-Day commemorations and to the Netherlands for the Dutch Liberation celebrations, as well as helping to fund social events for veterans here in the UK.

So, whether you enjoyed Hero Harry or are discovering the series for the first time, Hero Geoff is a very special addition – created by one generation to help another understand and remember.

Pre-order your copy and help take a veteran back to the places that matter.

Hero Geoff is A4-sized (21 x 30cm) and can be posted worldwide. UK postage is £4 and international postage is £6.50. The postage fee is charged per order rather than per book, so ordering five copies costs the same postage as ordering one.

A big thank you to Alfred, Grace and Lilly for creating a book that helps keep our veterans’ stories alive and for turning Alfred’s fundraising idea into something that can be enjoyed by families for years to come.
