Veterans enjoy special Dakota flight at North Weald Airfield

102-year-old WWII veteran takes to the skies above Cambridge in special glider flight
On Saturday 13 December, 102-year-old WWII veteran, Robbie Hall, who served with Bomber Command, realised one of her long-held dreams as she enjoyed a breathtaking glider flight above Cambridge. Richard Iles decorates his house with 235,000 Christmas lights to raise funds for the Taxi Charity
Last year , Richard Iles, a homeowner in Winterbourne Down near Bristol, decorated his house with more than 150,000 Christmas lights, raising over £15,000 in aid of the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans. On Remembrance Sunday, the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans organised a memorable day with Aero Legends at North Weald Airfield. The day brought together WWII veterans, their families and carers to watch Spitfires. Parents take the leap for the Taxi Charity!
It was no ordinary end to half term for a brave band of Year 8 parents from Port Regis School in Shaftesbury. On 22 October 2025, three World War II veterans, Don Turrell, Robbie Hall and Peter Greenwood, and one post-war veteran, Ken Orford, were delighted to visit the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) which operates from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
