102-year-old WWII veteran takes to the skies above Cambridge in special glider flight

New children's book, Hero Harry, celebrates D-Day veteran and supports the Taxi Charity

Richard Iles decorates his house with 235,000 Christmas lights to raise funds for the Taxi Charity
Last year , Richard Iles, a homeowner in Winterbourne Down near Bristol, decorated his house with more than 150,000 Christmas lights, raising over £15,000 in aid of the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans. Taxi Charity for Military Veterans AGM to be held on 12 January 2026
The Taxi Charity for Military Veterans will hold its Annual General Meeting at 12pm on 12 January 2026 at Club 1885, Millwall FC, The Den, Zampa Road, London, SE16 3LN. On 22 October 2025, three World War II veterans, Don Turrell, Robbie Hall and Peter Greenwood, and one post-war veteran, Ken Orford, were delighted to visit the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) which operates from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
