On Tuesday 17 December, a group of military veterans enjoyed a truly special day out at North Weald Airfield, thanks to the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans and the generosity of Aero Legends.

Veterans Chris Langford, Peter Galloway, Peter Gospel, Victor Needham-Crofton, Michael Webb, Mick Gosling and Roy Cresswell were treated to an unforgettable experience - a flight aboard a historic Douglas Dakota aircraft operated by Aero Legends. The Dakota flew over Basildon, Thurrock and Dartford.

All the veterans were post-war servicemen, ranging in age from 40 to 92, and the visit was carefully coordinated to ensure everyone could relax, enjoy the experience and share the day with fellow veterans and friends.

The visit was organised by Taxi Charity fundraiser Keely Allen, who worked closely with Aero Legends to make the day possible. Keely said: “Days out like this are at the very heart of everything the Taxi Charity does. Seeing the veterans sharing stories, laughing together and experiencing something so special was incredibly rewarding. We are extremely grateful to Aero Legends for their kindness and support in helping us create such a memorable day.”

Keith Perkins from Aero Legends added: “It was an absolute honour to welcome these veterans to North Weald and offer them the opportunity to fly in our Dakota. Their service deserves recognition, and we were proud to play a part in giving them a day they will hopefully remember for a long time.”

The Taxi Charity for Military Veterans would like to thank Aero Legends and everyone involved at North Weald Airfield for their generosity and hospitality, helping to create another unforgettable day for the veterans it supports.
