Alfred Mawson
Taxi Charity Ambassador
Alfred’s passion for sport began early. At just three years old he joined Peterborough's Ice Hockey Excellence, later earning a place on the Peterborough Phantoms U10s team. By age four, alongside his ice skates, he was lacing up his football boots with the Ruskington Lions Joiner Football Club Mini Kickers and is now a striker for the Ruskington Lions Junior Football Clubs U7 Reds.
Alfred’s dedication goes far beyond the rink and the pitch. With a deep respect for the military, military history and the veterans who served, he set himself an incredible challenge: completing 100 miles over his 2025 summer holidays to raise funds for the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans.
Walking, running, swimming and cycling, he finished his final mile on the Airborne Wandletocht and raised an amazing £4,435.
Inspired by the veterans he met along the way, Alfred is now determined to help keep their stories alive for future generations. Through a children’s book project, entitled Hero Harry, he hopes to ensure that young people everywhere understand the sacrifices made by our heroes.
A young sportsman, a determined fundraiser and a champion for our veterans - Alfred is proof that you’re never too young to make a big difference.
