Taxi Charity organises Christmas party at Millwall FC for veterans, volunteers, patrons and other fr

The Taxi Charity for Military Veterans held its annual Christmas party at Millwall FC on Thursday 13 December - and a wonderful time was had by all. Chairman, Gary Belsey, thanked our sponsors, supporters and, of course, our veteran collectors “for all their hard work during what has been an amazing 70th year for our charity." Pupils from Goodrich School sang Christmas carols before further delighting our 250 plus guests with their rendition of “It’s a long way to Tipperary”

Press Release: Parachuting octogenarian helps veterans to find their wings

An 89 year-old World War II veteran who undertook a charity parachute jump has raised money to help other veterans take flight. Edward ‘Ted' Pieri, who turns 90 next May, donated £1700 to the Taxi Charity after jumping from a plane with the Red Devils, 70 years after first gaining his wings. Taxi Charity holds veterans' Christmas lunch

Today, the Taxi Charity is holding its annual Christmas lunch for war veterans. Approx. 150 veterans and over 100 veterans' guests will be attending a slap up lunch in the Executive Suite at Millwall Football Club. In addition to the lunch, volunteer taxi drivers will be running a ferry service to Millwall FC from London Bridge and Waterloo station taxi ranks. Taxi Charity and veterans attend unveiling of a memorial to Albert McKenzie VC

Members of the Taxi Charity committee and many of our veterans attended the unveiling of a memorial to Albert McKenzie VC. The ceremony took place at Tower Bridge Road, Southwark. Albert, an able seaman in the First World War, was a local lad. At aged 21, he volunteered for a one-way mission on the Zeebrugge Raid in 1918 and unexpectedly survived.
