Supporters take on the Thames Bridges Trek to fundraise for the Taxi Charity

Two groups of supporters took on the Thames Bridges Trek on 12 September, walking 25km through London and crossing 16 historic bridges to raise money for the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans.
Supporter Jay Louise Knight and her friend Teresa Abouzeid set off first, followed by a second team made up of trustee Keely Allen, ambassadors Ellie Elston and Abbie Kennedy, and supporter Mick Bannister.
The challenge took the teams along the Thames and across some of London’s most famous bridges, with the walkers tackling the 25km route in particularly hot conditions.
Keely said:
“It was a very hot day, but we loved every minute because we were doing it to try and raise enough money to get another veteran in a Spitfire. It was wonderful to cross all 16 bridges, but without a doubt the final bridge, Tower Bridge, was my favourite, as this meant that two of the charity volunteers, Danny Shelton and Dean Euesden, were nearby waiting to get us to our respective mainline stations!”
The money raised will help the Taxi Charity continue its work supporting veterans, including giving more WWII veterans the opportunity to experience the unforgettable thrill of flying in a Spitfire.
There is still time to donate and support the walkers and the Taxi Charity’s Spitfire flights. Every donation, however large or small, will help the charity take another veteran to the skies.
