Wonderful photos from our 70th anniversary celebrations at The Bedford Arms, where the Taxi Charity was formed on 27 February 1948.
The party, for war veterans, cab drivers and the charity’s voluntary committee, was a traditional pub party with a buffet, drinks, dancing and a bit of a singalong (which was filmed by Sky News).
Current landlady, Kim, presented a plaque to Taxi Charity president, Harry Joel MBE (aged 94) that said:
"The Taxi Charity for Military Veterans formed at The Bedford Arms on February 27th 1948."
The plaque will be on display in the pub henceforward.
