Taxi Charity News: Holland Update

Our committee members have been busy dotting the i's and crossing the t's for our veterans trip to the Netherlands on 2 May 2015.

Our Chairman, Gary Belsey, Appeals Officer, Dick Goodwin, Honorary Secretary, Paul Davis and Press Officer, Derek Leone, recently travelled to Holland to finalise many aspects of our forthcoming trip.

Things like ferry arrangements, hotel bookings, police escorts, meetings with Dutch administrators, visiting the Bronbeek veterans home, meeting the local Mayors and senior Dutch military officers.

And, of course, making sure all our veterans get to the right place at the right time on the day of the National Liberation Parade at Wageningen, which promises to be the highlight of the trip.

The preparation that goes on behind the scenes for an operation of this kind is phenomenal. A fleet of 80 London taxis and drivers transporting approx. 240 people from one country to another, and back again, plus food, hotels and entertainment. And the whole thing has to run like clockwork.

We would to take this opportunity to thank Stena Line Ferries for the first class service which we have received on all of our sea crossings, past and present. They look after us so well.
