More thank you notes to the Taxi Charity from veterans for the free taxis on VJ Day

Message:

Dear Cabdrivers,

My father Eddie Hunn is a VJ veteran who was captured at Singapore and worked on the death railway. On VJ Day we had two excellent journeys provided by your charity and we would like to thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness. Everything went very smoothly, and I guess it would be hard to track him down, but the taxi driver who took us from College Gardens to Liverpool St did an excellent job of just getting us there on time, in fact we had 1 minute to spare before the train left.

Thanks again for being such a great organisation and giving the veterans the respect they deserve. In fact one driver said 'It's the least we can give after what your father has given to us.'

Best wishes.

Message: Thank you very much indeed to those taxi drivers who so kindly provided transport for veterans on V.J. Day. It was not just the practical help which I so much appreciated, but the kindness and thoughtfulness which added so much to the richness of what was a most memorable day.

I had travelled to and from Gloucestershire which meant a 3 hour journey each way. Although I must have been one of the youngest veterans attending the day (I am 73), I did find it all very tiring, and was grateful for the taxis which provided transport.

I was 10 months old when with my parents and 2 year old brother, I was taken prisoner by the Japanese and taken to Weihsian internment camp in North China, where we spent the next two and half years.

Thank you so much again.
