As chairman of this wonderful charity, I was so sorry to hear the sad news of Dame Vera Lynn’s passing. My involvement with the Taxi Charity began in 2014, so, unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet the great lady. That is my loss. Her contribution to our nation is incalculable, and the Taxi Charity was so proud to have her as our patron. We send our condolences to her family. Harry Joel MBE 1924 - 2018 It is with great sadness that the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans announces the passing of its Honorary Life President, Harry Joel MBE, on 28 October 2018. The Taxi Charity escorted a group of war veterans to Britain's Got Talent to support The D-Day Darlings for their semi-final and final performances. The D-Day Darlings have performed at a number of Taxi Charity events for our veterans, so when we saw them in the early rounds of BGT, we contacted them to say that the veterans would like to support them. As a result, our veterans made a surprise appearance at the end of The D-Day Darlings' rousing rendition of Rule Britannia! i

We've started moving our photo library over to Flickr. We've uploaded photo albums from 1964 to 1985 so far, and we're over the moon with the results! We've found some photos of our current patron, Dame Vera Lynn, taken in 1985, and of our 1979 Guest of Honour, Prince Philip. We also have some beautiful black and white photos of our veterans enjoying their annual trip to Worthing.
