Chris Langford

Chris Langford served in the British Army with the 1st Battalion, Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (1 PWRR), “The Tigers”, from 2004 to 2012 and was deployed operationally to Iraq and Afghanistan.

He began his military career with B Company, 6 Platoon, in a rifle company, completing Warrior Gunner and Warrior Driver training before joining the Battalion’s Specialist Y Company, Recce and Sniper Platoon.

After leaving the Army in 2012, following a serious training accident in Canada, Chris underwent lengthy rehabilitation and began a new career as a funeral director in 2013, a role he continues to find deeply rewarding.

Chris was introduced to the Taxi Charity in 2023 and quickly found a renewed connection with the veteran community. His first major trip was the 79th anniversary D-Day commemorations in Normandy, where he met veteran Victor Needham-Crofton, who has since become a close friend.

For Chris, the Taxi Charity is about much more than trips and events. It brings veterans of different generations together, creates lasting friendships and ensures that the service and sacrifices of veterans are remembered. Some of his favourite memories have been travelling, sharing meals, laying wreaths and simply spending time with friends including Victor and WWII veteran Paul Terry.

“The Taxi Charity has given me a sense of belonging and connection that I didn't realise I was missing after leaving the Army. It has given me opportunities to stay connected to the military community, meet remarkable people and take part in experiences I never thought I would have again.”

As an Ambassador, Chris is proud to help raise awareness of the charity and its work supporting veterans. He particularly values the kindness and dedication of the volunteer London taxi drivers who make so many of the charity's activities possible.

Away from the Taxi Charity, Chris enjoys history, playing guitar, bowls, darts, boxing and football, as well as spending time with friends and family.

Chris says being a Taxi Charity Ambassador is “a huge honour” and that the charity has become like family to him.
