Callum Reid
Taxi Charity Ambassador
Callum grew up in Leeds and now lives north of the border in Glasgow. An ACA-qualified Chartered Accountant and former Royal Navy Reservist, Callum dedicates both his volunteering time and annual leave to support the Taxi Charity. He regularly joins trips to the Netherlands, Normandy, and across the UK.
Callum first discovered the charity in 2019 during a visit to Normandy to see his great-grandfather Sgt. James Dargie’s grave for the first time. While there, he met WWII veteran Donald Turrell in a bar and the two formed an instant bond. Don had been wounded in the battle for Hill 112 - the same battle in which Sgt. Dargie was killed.
During the Covid lockdowns, after reading an article about loneliness, Callum began calling Don every other Tuesday. Their friendship grew stronger and eventually Don invited Callum to accompany him on a charity trip.
Callum’s first trip was to the Netherlands in September 2022, and he has been a part of the charity’s volunteer team ever since. In October 2025, he ran the Great Scottish Half Marathon to raise funds for the charity and, in December 2025, Callum was honoured to be invited to become an ambassador.
