Committee Member
Austin Levens
Born: Crouch End, London, 1953
Early Years: My first job was for the Nation Provincial Bank in Acton High Street in 1970. I left there in 1973 to join the London Fire Brigade.
Military Experience: I have no military experience. However, I am extremely proud of my grandfather who served from 1914 to the end of WWI as a Royal Engineer, and my dad who was in a reserved occupation working for the government who cut quartz crystals that helped the telecommunications in the seeking out of German U-boats.
Taxi Career: I had my first Knowledge appearance the day my son was born in December 1979 (I just got my wife to hospital in time). I got my Green Badge in June 1981.
Charity Work: I have taken children on an annual Disney trip for over 20 years as a member of the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers. I have been involved with the Taxi Charity since 2016 and have served on the committee since 2020.
