Welcome to the Taxi Charity

The Taxi Charity for Military Veterans was formed in Fulham in 1948.

We offer international trips to Holland, Belgium and France, day trips to concerts or museums, transport to attend fundraising events, as well as special days out to catch up with friends and comrades.

To fund and facilitate these outings, the charity is wholly reliant on donations from members of the public, businesses and trusts and the amazing group of London taxi drivers who volunteer their time and vehicles so willingly.

Last year, Richard Iles, a homeowner in Winterbourne Down near Bristol, decorated his house with more than 150,000 Christmas lights, raising over £15,000 in aid of the Taxi Charity.

For Christmas 2025, Richard is taking the display to a whole new level - adding a further 85,000 lights!

The official switch-on will take place at 58 Church Road, Winterbourne Down, Bristol, BS36 1BY at 6pm on Saturday 29 November.

Four-year-old Dutch school boy, Twan, gave Geoff Roberts MBE a lovely drawing at Oosterbeek cemetery, when we were in the Netherlands for the 81st anniversary of Operation Market Garden.

Geoff didn't get a chance to thank Twan properly, and really wanted to, so  the Taxi Charity mounted a social media campaign to track Twan down...
