Taxi Charity veterans trip to Worthing

On 12 June 2018, 100 volunteer cabbies from the Taxi Charity escorted veterans on a trip to Worthing.

Following a tradition that began seventy years ago, the London cabbies picked up veterans and carers from their homes across the capital and headed off for their big day out.

After a pit stop at South Holmwood village near Dorking in Surrey, for home-made sandwiches, cakes and refreshments, the taxis traveled in convoy along the A24 to Worthing.

Once in Worthing, the veterans enjoyed a fish and chip lunch and entertainment from Aiden Kent, the Singing Cabbie, on Worthing Pier.

This year, there was added excitement, as a team of runners and cyclists, including Taxi Charity committee member Graham Pike, made their way from DMRC Headley Court to Worthing Pavilion, to raise awareness and funds for both the DMRC Benevolent Fund and the Taxi Charity.

Here are a few of our favourite photos from the day. A full set of photos can be found on our Flickr or Facebook channels.
