Derek Leone
Born: Northampton, 1941
Early Years: Moved to Hackney when a few weeks old and lived there until 1967, when he got married and moved to Collier Row, Romford where he still lives now.
Working Life: Left school in 1956 and started work in a brokers office in the city. After that he had various jobs including postman, HGV driver for a security company and civilian staff for the Metropolitan Police.
Taxi Career: In 1987, applied to do the knowledge and has been a taxi driver since 1989.
Charity Work: Derek first became involved with the Taxi Charity when he was asked to be a driver on a trip to Duxford Museum, and later Worthing. He was then asked to join the committee in 2000 and was Press Officer from then until 2017. In 2013, he was asked to become Assistant Secretary.
